About the Opportunity
Scale Factory is supporting a key enterprise client experiencing rapid growth across several flagship software initiatives.
In this role, you will work closely with the client's engineering teams to balance system stability and innovation—tackling bug fixes and performance improvements across legacy codebases while designing and delivering brand-new product features. You will work across microservice architectures, Android, and .NET frameworks to power robust, high-availability terminal devices.
Key Responsibilities
Application Delivery: Design, code, and test microservice-based solutions primarily in C# targeting the client's device platforms, including Android and .NET.
Maintenance & Feature Development: Triage and resolve technical defects in existing deployed systems while building clean, scalable components for upcoming feature roll-outs.
Agile Collaboration: Participate actively in all client Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and design reviews.
Quality & Testing: Champion code quality by writing unit and automated integration tests (TDD/BDD), tracking coverage, and participating in peer code reviews.
Process & Tooling: Assist the team in refining CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and development tooling.
Documentation & Technical Handover: Produce comprehensive technical specifications, release documentation, and testing guides to support client factory engineering and field operations.
Key Requirements
Essential:
Experience: 12–24 months of commercial software engineering experience focused on C# / .NET using Visual Studio.
APIs & Architecture: Practical experience building and consuming REST / RESTful interfaces and working with microservice patterns.
Core Software Design: Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Design (OOD), SOLID principles, and common design patterns.
Testing: Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (e.g., NUnit) and automated test methodologies.
Tooling & Version Control: Working knowledge of Git/Bitbucket/Azure DevOps (VSTFS) and standard CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Bamboo, or Artifactory).
Agile Mindset: Comfortable delivering iteratively within Scrum or Kanban frameworks.
Desirable:
AI Tooling: Hands-on experience using AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, LLM-based refactoring/debugging) to enhance workflow and delivery speed.
Device & Mobile Platforms: Exposure to Android (native or Xamarin), Windows CE / Embedded Compact, or the .NET Compact Framework.
Systems Programming: Foundational knowledge of C/C++ in embedded Linux environments.
Web & Data: Exposure to JavaScript frameworks or database technologies.
Domain Knowledge: Any exposure to transport ticketing standards, Point of Sale (POS) terminals, contactless smartcards (ITSO), cEMV/PCI payment compliance, or auth protocols (OAuth2, OpenID).
